Harris Trzaskoma LLP Adds Renowned Trial Lawyers Susan Hoffinger and Barry Pollack as Partners
Seasoned Trial Lawyers Expand Firm’s Capabilities in High-Stakes Criminal and Civil Matters in Federal, State, and International Courts
NEW YORK, NY – BUSINESS WIRE – Harris Trzaskoma LLP, a premier litigation boutique focused on high-stakes criminal and civil matters, today announced that Susan Hoffinger and Barry Pollack have joined the firm as partners.
Ms. Hoffinger has over 30 years of experience as both a criminal defense attorney and prosecutor, most recently serving as Senior Counsel to the District Attorney and Chief of the Investigation Division at the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, leading trial teams in some of the most closely watched white-collar cases in the country. Mr. Pollack likewise brings more than three decades of experience representing individuals, corporations, and organizations in sensitive and high-profile trials and investigations, with particular expertise in complex financial and cross-border matters. Both attorneys are Fellows of the American College of Trial Lawyers, joining the firm’s founding partners, Justine Harris, Theresa Trzaskoma, Anna Estevao, and Allegra Noonan.
“Barry and Susan are extraordinary additions to our firm,” said Justine Harris. “They are both first-chair trial lawyers with the judgment, credibility, and experience to handle the most challenging matters our clients face. They exemplify the standard of excellence our clients expect of Harris Trzaskoma. Just as importantly, they share our commitment to a collaborative, trial-focused practice, and to building a firm where exceptional advocacy and teamwork go hand in hand.”
“From the very beginning, our vision has been to build a firm capable of taking on the most significant and consequential legal matters in the country,” said Theresa Trzaskoma. “Barry and Susan each bring a rare combination of high-profile trial experience, strategic thinking, and leadership. They are also individuals of the highest integrity and character who are deeply committed to the rule of law. Their arrival marks an important step in the growth of the firm and enhances our ability to deliver outstanding results for clients in complex civil and criminal matters.”
Ms. Hoffinger brings deep experience from both sides of the courtroom, having spent many years in public service as well as in private practice, where she defended clients against a wide range of complex state and federal criminal charges, including antitrust violations, bribery, tax fraud, securities violations, money laundering and conspiracy, among many others. Her practice at Harris Trzaskoma will include both criminal defense and civil litigation. She is known for her ability to lead trial teams, develop cohesive litigation strategies across large and challenging matters, and mentor younger lawyers.
“What drew me to Harris Trzaskoma is its team of lawyers with exceptional talent, particularly as trial lawyers and litigators, together with its strong culture of teamwork, mentorship, and purpose, and the opportunity to help build something meaningful alongside colleagues who share those values,” said Susan Hoffinger, Partner at Harris Trzaskoma. “My time in public service profoundly shaped me as a trial lawyer and instilled a deep respect for those who seek justice without fear or favor. Defense attorneys play an equally critical role in defending the public interest by protecting the rights of the accused. My experience on both sides informs how I approach criminal defense work today, with a focus on excellence, professionalism, ethics, and collegiality.”
Mr. Pollack brings more than three decades of experience in federal criminal defense and complex civil litigation, including high-profile matters involving financial crimes, public corruption, and national security issues. Widely respected for his skills as a trial lawyer, Mr. Pollack previously served as a federal defender and draws on his background as a certified public accountant to advise clients on sophisticated financial matters. He serves as an adjunct professor at Georgetown University Law Center. Mr. Pollack’s practice, based primarily in Washington, D.C., and New York, significantly expands Harris Trzaskoma LLP’s presence in both jurisdictions.
“Clients facing life-altering or financially devastating situations need a lawyer they trust and a team that takes the time to truly understand the complex and often novel legal circumstances they face,” said Barry Pollack, Partner at Harris Trzaskoma. “Harris Trzaskoma is an ideal fit for my practice and offers the creativity, attention, and fresh perspective these cases often require. I’m excited to be part of the firm’s early growth and to help build it into a go-to destination for clients navigating the most challenging and consequential legal matters.”
Launched in May 2025, Harris Trzaskoma LLP was formed to offer top-tier litigation services in the evolving legal landscape. The firm is frequently called upon to defend clients who have been unlawfully targeted in politicized investigations, lawsuits, and prosecutions. It is committed to public service and defending the rule of law, and its lawyers also represent indigent criminal defendants through federal court appointments.
